A dual-strap system is one of the key features I prioritize in a full-sized bag. While a carry bag might manage with a single strap, it’s a different story for a full-sized cart bag—using a single strap would make the carrying experience incredibly uncomfortable. Fortunately, the Ryder golf bag impressed me with its inclusion of dual straps, providing a remarkably comfortable carrying experience.

Its 5-way top with full-length dividers accommodates a complete club set. The accessory pocket is another notable feature, offering ample space to hold my ball marker and golf gloves. Surprisingly spacious, it comfortably accommodated both items, with room to spare.

The combined ball and tee pocket was a unique choice, though personally, I would have preferred separate compartments. The combination meant I had to store my balls and tees together, which was a minor inconvenience.

A welcomed addition is the insulated pocket, a feature becoming more common in golf bags. This pocket, capable of storing around three regular-sized canned beverages, proved functional for keeping refreshments cool during a round.

It also has a smell-proof pocket. I’m unsure what this means, but you can probably find a use.

The valuable pocket, lined with velour, is a feature I appreciate for safeguarding delicate items. However, the Ryder’s valuable pocket is smaller and less accommodating than my El Camino bag.

The jacket pocket, on the other hand, was quite large, comfortably fitting my jacket with plenty of room to spare.

I use a Bushnell Launch Pro, so I like bags that have range-finder pockets. The Ryder bag offers a dedicated rangefinder pocket but lacks a zipper for added protection. However, a zipper could have better secured the range finder while allowing easy access.

The Velcro glove holder was another positive feature, providing a convenient space to air out my gloves before storing them in the bag. It also has a towel loop, a new but appreciated addition that allows easy access to my towel for wiping clubs during a game, avoiding the need to carry or store it in one of the bag’s pockets.

The Sunday golf Ryder may be comfortable to carry, but sometimes you want to throw it on a cart as you walk 18 holes. Thanks to the pass-through cart straps that come with the Ryder golf bag, you can put the strap through the bag so the bag stays in place on the cart.

Lastly, the additional mesh pocket serves its purpose well, comfortably accommodating a water bottle for when I get thirsty on the course.

Performance

In terms of performance, the Sunday Golf Ryder bag is very comfortable for a full-sized bag, thanks to its well-designed padded dual-strap system. The straps, easily adjustable with a simple pull, come with a self-balancing buckle that adds to the overall comfort and ensures proper balance on my back as I walk the course.

Fitting my nine clubs with standard grips was a breeze when organising clubs, and the retrieval process was smooth. However, the bag was challenged when accommodating 14 clubs with a midsize grip. The clubs tended to cluster together, making inserting and retrieving them cumbersome. The load might be better suited for those carrying fewer than 14 clubs.

I appreciated the inclusion of a stand, which proved easy to set up. Spreading the legs wide ensured stability, and the stand’s legs felt sturdy during use.

On the downside, the carry handle left something to be desired. It felt thin and lacked a comfortable grip. Adding a larger handle or using a different material for the handle would have enhanced the grip and comfort. Also, it had no tee strap, which I’ve grown accustomed to in my golf bags.

One significant drawback became apparent during a particularly hot day. The black shoulder strap stained my white polo shirt, something I’ve never experienced with other golf bags.

In summary, the Sunday Golf Ryder bag impressed me with its comfort and certain organizational features.
