Phil Mickelson Diet

Phil Mickelson has managed to make a name for him over the years by winning over 40 golf tournaments. With wins in the Open tournament and the PGA championship, the three Master title holders have managed to be successful for many years. Now the fifth best golf player has decided to allegedly become a vegetarian for the sake of his arthritis and overall health. He has switched to a healthier alternate known as the Paleo diet. The diet essentially limits down your gluten, sugar and processed food intake in order to lose weight fast but in a healthier way. He decided to get serious about his diet after the loss in 2013, in which he then decided to fully focus on his health.

I first read about his diet and exercise plan on this entry:  https://www.dietpillreviews.com/celebrity-diet-plans-to-lose-weight-fast/

What is Phil Mickelson’s Diet Program Like?

There are many problems that the human body can face such as obesity, heart disease and diabetes. These happen to accompany old age and can be highly detrimental. The diet is also known as the “Caveman” diet as it takes people back to their roots, to what our ancestors use to eat. Here are some things that Mickelson’s coach Cochran has suggested that anyone wanting to go on the Paleo diet needs to do. One thing that is important is the amount of exercise needed. The diet only requires you to eat foods that age old hunter gatherers used to eat. As you can tell, it’s pretty strict and extremely limited.

Mickelson has been using this as a means to lose weight effectively in order to gain ball speed and play more efficiently, with precision. It has managed to improve his health by eliminating high fat and processed foods which contain less to zero nutritional value. It emphasizes on the intake of fruits and vegetables, which have left Mickelson looking fresh and younger. The diet essentially contains healthy vitamins, which in term really helped out with Mickelson’s arthritis, minerals and fiber which help to fill up a person faster and cut down the calories. While the diet is important, so is the workout. Mickelson has managed to burn more calories than he takes in, which explains how he is in such good shape.

The diet contains of many food groups, mainly lean cuts of beef, pork, and poultry, preferably grass-fed, organic, or free-range selections which have proven to be healthier. Other meats include game animals, such as quail, venison, and bison. Dairy is not restricted unlike in other diets. The diet allows eggs, but no more than six a week. Free range does serve to be a better option overall, since it eliminates the mass production factor. For high protein, fish, including shellfish are a great source. Fruit, such as strawberries, cantaloupe, mango, and figs are most encouraged as they leave the system with vitamins. When it comes to vegetables, they have to be non-starchy, which include produce such as asparagus, onions, peppers, and pumpkin. Many do include nuts and seeds into the paleo diet such as almonds, cashews, walnuts, and pumpkin seeds, but most like to lay off them as they help to gain weight. Olive oil, flaxseed oil, and walnut oil are best alternates to sunflower or canola oil, as they are much healthier.

The diet essentially includes everything you need from a good, balanced diet. It works great for Phil, it should work great for you too!

Phil Mickelson Masters Outfit

If you haven’t heard by now, the great Phil “Lefty” Mickelson wore an outfit that drew plenty of ire at the Masters during the practice round last week.

It was an outfit that some said “was good for a business lunch.”  Others just said “what the heck is he wearing?”

What Did Phil Mickelson Wear During the Master’s Practice Round?

Well, see for yourself with this picture below.

Jordan Spieth Felt Phil Mickelson Snubbed Him for an Autograph

One of the up and coming golfers of the current era, Jordan Spieth, recently shared a story with Golf Digest that I had to come here and share with you.

You can read the full story right here.  Below, I’ve put the story in my own words.

The Jordan Spieth Autograph Debacle

Many athletes differ on signing autographs for their fans.  You’ll find some, like Arnold Palmer, will go out of the their way to make people happy.  Others, well, not so much.

In a world where one reaction can have an impact on what people think of you, so many people can get rubbed the wrong way if they catch someone on the wrong day.  Phil is notably one of the better guys on tour, and he’ll make sure he signs autographs for people whenever possible.

Jordan Spieth

That said, everyone has their good days, and their bad days.  Sometimes things just don’t work out for people, and time isn’t on their side.  Of course, this has happened to Phil like it’s happened to any other athlete or celebrity out there, and one of the times it happened to none other than legendary golfer Jordan Spieth, a three time major champion himself.

When he was in Austin recently before a WGC match, the phenom golfer was asked if he was ever slighted for a signature growing up.  His answer was classic.

I’m quoting him below:

“There was a time that I was out, I think at the Byron Nelson with my dad and Phil Mickelson and Davis Love III were on the putting green. And i was yelling at them, as I now get annoyed while I’m practicing when I’m getting yelled at, and they were talking and they said, ‘One second.’

“And when they finished, Phil was pulled off in a different direction and Davis came and signed for me. And I thought for the longest time that Phil just blew me off. And Davis was the nicest guy. And Phil, I didn’t care for as much for a little while because of that.”

Rightfully so, Spieth was upset with Lefty, and he didn’t forget it.  When he reflected on that moment, he mentioned that in the back of his mind, as an adult, he knows Phil was probably meeting with a sponsor or attending a mandatory media obligation.

The story came up recently, and when Spieth mentioned it to Phil himself, he said:

“I knew who you were, and I didn’t want to go over there and sign it,” Spieth relayed.

It’ll be an interesting situation if the two of them are paired up again soon!  They play at Augusta National in under two weeks.

Phil Mickelson Makes 100th Career Major Appearance

The famous golfer from San Diego, our reason for this fan website, is making his 100th appearance in a major PGA Championship this weekend.  Along with him making his 100th appearance is South African Ernie Els.  The two of them have been friends throughout their entire career competing against one another.

This is an elite club of golfers who have actually participated in 100 majors.

When Els took home his first major victory back in 1994, Curtis Strange, a two time U.S. Open championship winner, said that Els was the “next God.”

However, the media missed on this quote, and what he was trying to say was that Els would be “the next guy.”  He has a very thick accent, apparently!

When Mickelson won the Masters at age 34, it was his first major tournament win.  Ironically, this came to be a win over Els.  On the final hole of competition, Mickelson made an 18 foot birdie putt for the win.  When Els heard the roar of the crowd on the putting green, he retrieved his belongings and left.

The two legends even received a cake for this triumph.

Jack Nicklaus leads the way with 164 career starts in a major.  After that, it’s Gary Player, Raymond Floyd, Tom Watson, Ben Crenshaw, Sam Snead, Tom Kite, Gene Sarazen, Nick Faldo, Mark O’Meara, and Bernhard Langer.  This elite list is only 14 golfers deep, so you can tell what kind of company Lefty just joined.

Every golfer on that list is in the Hall of Fame, and rightfully so.

Good luck to Phil, we’ll be cheering for you this weekend!
